Eastvale’s visit to Recreation Park for this 2nd Round of The Challenge cup, was a chance to extend our unbeaten run to 10 games. For the first 30 minutes of this match it was an evenly fought encounter with both teams having chances but neither team dominating possession.

All changed soon after,  a Eastvale  corner was not cleared and found Beau just outside the box, he let loose a screamer into the top corner.  A through ball found Willie Kerr racing thro, nice finish to make it 2-0. After some nice footwork by Danny who was challenged but a lucky break of the ball found Jamie who rifled it into roof of the net.

Half Time: Shipyard 0 Eastvale 3

Eastvale continued the second half were they left off, another thro ball found Willie Kerr one on one with the keeper, a cool finish made it 4-0. The fifth came not long after when another thro ball found Danny this time who cooly lobbed the Shipyard keeper. Mike Laing came on for the injured Steven Gardner and did have a very good save late on. Andy Kirk came on for Kenny and wasn’t on long when a 50/50 challenge for the ball with the keeper broke to Andy to round keeper and side foot for the sixth.

The Shipyard pulled a goal back when the Shipyard sub  rounded an on rushing Mikey Laing to make it 6-1. In 85 minutes the Shipyard pulled another goal back with an excellent free-kick from 25 yards.

Eastvale travelled to Strathmiglo in fine spirits to continue their impressive unbeaten run.
Both teams were hampered by call-offs, injuries and suspensions so were down to the bare bones.

The visitors started the game well playing some good passing moves pressing the home side onto the back foot. Eastvale created some scrappy half chances but it was Beau who was to find the net first with a defensive mix up allowed the winger to nip in and knock the ball in.
Eastvale continued to mix the play up with some Long passes and some great to watch short play. The home side were to benefit shortly after from the ref’s mistake to spot any one of three Strath players clearly in an offside position attacking the goal. Gardner was left exposed with the Strath Midfielder bearing down on him at an angle with options to his right if he chose. He decided to hammer the ball low past Gardner’s near post to level the game at 1-1.
Eastvale were dealt another blow when the ref, (to everyone’s dismay), decided to send off Armitt for a seemingly nothing incident. The visitors would need to play nearly 70Min’s with one less man.

Second half and Eastvale came out of the traps with some intention of winning the match. Chances came and went for Vale with only half chances for the home side. The game ended 1-1 with Eastvale disappointed to come away from Strath with only a point from a win-able game.

Eastvale: Gardner, Westwood, Haley, Winn, Scone, Beau, Armitt, Forrester, Connolly, Miller, Coull(Kerr).
Subs not used: McLiesh, Wardlaw

It was cold and it rained, but Eastvale went about their task in a determined manner, a very scrappy start to the match but  once Vale settled and the first goal went in from Callum’s heed, it was all one way traffic. Take nowt away from Swifts they fought for every ball but Eastvale today just had that extra yard which propelled them onto this convincing win.
