At last we got a game, Eastvale made only one change from the Rosyth game with Stuart McLeish stepping into right back.

Eastvale started well and from a free kick well outside the Lumphinnans box, Ryan floated a lovely free kick high into the box which sailed over everyones heads and the keeper could only parry into his net. A few minutes later Andy Kirk found himself one on one with the keeper but his shot just sailed by the post.

Lumphinnans were awarded a penalty shortly afterwards, the striker aimed for the keepers left but Gardner got across to tip the ball round the post.

Some determined play from Eck Douglas found himself free in the box and sent a lovely pass for Bud to make it 2 – 0. Andy Kirk made it 3-0 from the spot after Jamie Armitt was upended in the box.

Lumphinnans came out the second half with a more determined manner. As Lumphinnans pushed forward Eastvale broke and made it 4-0 which a lovely finish from Eck Douglas.

A feisty affair at times which looked like getting out of control but things calmed down after a few yellow cards where flashed about.

More chances came for Eastvale to extend their lead ,with Andy then Bud one on one with the keeper who on both occasions made good stops to deny Vale.

 

The game looked over but when Lumphinnans pulled one back a confident Eastvale seemed to change and hit the panic button.

Eastvale seemed to go to sleep, losing their shape and another two quick goals from Lumphinnans made it a ring nipping last few minutes. First being a penalty which Steven was unlucky not to keep out and with Vale unable to clear their lines Lumphinnans made it 4-3. Danny came close at the end to opening his account for Vale but it wasn’t to be. (Yellow Jersey on Tuesday me thinks !!)

Eastvale stopped the rot and held out to earn a valuable 3 points.
