The first midweek game of the season was a tough test against an in form Leven side at Windygates. The raining persisting down,  and a very dull setting, it made for a hard battle for Vale against conditions and a very determined Leven team. Vale carried the determination and grit into this game over from the Fair City match and challenged Leven for every ball. Leven had some early chances with Vales defence holding firm, once Vale got settled they made Leven fight for this win, in a evenly fought contest it was a hard to tell who was going to come out on top. It had a draw written all over it.

Half Time 0-0

The game continued in the same vain with chances falling to both teams. Callum had some great chances but some staunch defending by Leven kept the scores even. With 15 mins to go Leven were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Vale box, the free kick was converted to put Leven 1-0 up. Vale fought for the leveller and Andy Kirk came close but his shot went past. With 5 minutes to go, Leven broke on the left and with no challenge he managed to play a ball to the back post which was dispatched by the unmarked Leven player at the far post. A very evenly matched encounter, and one in which Vale should be chuffed as the determination and fight from recent weeks is continuing, they fought to the end but on this day, their luck just failed them.
