2010
Perfect footballing conditions for this Kingdom League encounter with Bowhill Rovers. With a stack of injuries and suspensions, Vale juggled the back four with Mike Laing playing at right back, Scone filling the left back role with Stewart McLiesh and Ryan Kennedy through the middle.
Bowhill started the strongest with Eastvale scattered all over the place, Vale finally got over this hurdle, settled down and took the game to Bowhill with some positive moves.
Highlights of the first half were limited. first; a free kick to Bowhill was floated over from the right and a powerful header rattled the post before the rebound was fired straight at Gardner.Second; a fine move by Bowhill was met with a powerful strike which was pushed round the post by a fantastic one handed save by Steven Gardner.
As the half went on, Vale started to create spaces but chances were few and far between.
Half Time 0-0
The second half was a more even affair with Bowhill creating the better of the chances. Vale brought on Willie Kerr for Stewart McLeish, Eck Douglas was moved back to centre half and young Liam Mitchell replaced Andy Kirk up front. approaching the end of the game Cas came on for the injured Eck douglas.
Vale’s best chance came deep into injury time, a throw in from Beau to Willie Kerr, who took the ball inside the defender and fired a shot which cannoned off the cross bar.
After a shaky start Vale got their shape together and fought for a hard earned point.
