DSC02862DSC02860DSC02884EVAFC 3 BS 3On a chilly afternoon, we were treated to a feisty affair in this mid table clash.
With 5 mins gone, a mistimed pass back by Stewart Mcleish handed the Shipyard striker an easy chance to slip the ball past Gardner. 1-0 Shipyard. Vale fought back when Jamie Armitt drove the ball into the roof of the net from 6 yards to even things up.

Half Time Eastvale 1 Burntisland Shipyard 1

A very dodgy decision gave the shipyard a penalty at the start of the second half, Vale keeper Gardner was deemed to be inside his box when the shipyard forward tried to round him. The shipyard neatly dispatched the penalty. Two quick fire goals from Jamie Armitt gave him his hat trick and Vale the lead.
Burntisland were reduced to ten men after what the ref deemed an off the ball incident.
Burntisland battled well and their endeavours paid off when they evened the match with 10 to go.

This Scottish cup 3rd round saw Maddiston from the Stirling & District A.F.L  visit Windygates on a fine crisp autumn day.
2-0 ValeCallumWardy1-0 Vale
Maddiston started the strongest, who were good on the counter and vale had to be on their toes to counteract this. Maddiston played some nice football and it took vale a while to get into the game. Once they did ,a throw in from Davie McNeil to Jamie Allans’ feet who turned brilliantly in the box to square for Wardy to put Vale one nil up. Not long after that some lovely interplay by Vale put Jamie Allan  free with only the on rushing Maddiston keeper to beat, which he cooly slotted past him to put vale 2-0 up. A rough encounter at times which could have got out of control but the ref handled situations well. Another sweeping Maddiston move just before half time resulting in a close shave for Vale.

Half time Eastvale 2 Maddiston 0

The second half continued in the same vain with Maddiston having most of the procession. An early highlight of the second half for Vale was a sweet struck free kick from beau which cannoned off the up right and eventually cleared by the defence. Man of the match for the day and voted by committee members was the Vale keeper, Steven Gardner, who had a great game, controlling the box and making sure his team mates heard him. This was typified when the ref awarded Maddiston a penalty midway through the second period and unlike last week Steven chose the correct way and produced a majestic one handed save to deny Maddiston a goal which over the piece they deserved. This was the truning point as Callum made it 3-0, then Beau’s replacement Andy Kirk dispatched a penalty to make it 4-0. Maddiston had a player sent off after a conversation with the ref resulted in two yellows. No way back for Maddiston and Andy Kirk rounded proceedings off with a lovely taken goal, put through one on one with the keeper, keeping his head and slotted it underneath the keeper.
A fantastic performance from everyone of Eastvale’s players who dug in against a determined Maddiston team, which the score doesn’t give them credit for a fine performance.
Eastvale progress into the 4th Round of the Scottish cup. No game next week, its the Sportsman Dinner next Saturday, so the players can have a well earned rest.
