SCOTTISH CUP 4TH ROUND
Monteith Amateurs 3 v 4 Eastvale Afc
Eastvale travelled to Carstairs to face the local amateurs within site of
the famous hospital. A much changed side from the recent Fife Cup exploits
settled quickly and from their first corner Allan bulleted a header towards
the top corner only to see the defender fist clear, after being reduced to
ten men, Kinnear stepped up to slot home the resultant penalty. Five minutes
later, Mcleod produced great control and rifled a right foot shot into the
top corner. Eastvale were in control but the ten men pushed hard to get back
into the game and were rewarded when a defence splitting pass was well
executed.This was followed by intense pressure on th vale defence Kinnear
made two great saves and the bar kept the score to 2-1 at the break.
Eastvale almost lost a goal right after the break but Kennedy headed clear
ofrom the goal line. Thomson produced a great save from the keeper as
Eastvale stepped up the Pressure, But it was Monteith who scored after a
loose defensive header.Roberts was introduced and almost scored with his
first touch his lob beat the keeper but drifted wide. Beaumont the produced
great skill to beat the keeper from 20 yards, Eastvale sensed victory,
McCleod tuned provided his header turned in by Thomson. With 10 minutes left
Monteith scored their third with a cracking effort, this left a tense
finish, Roberts almost scored with a great effort in the final minutes as
Eastvale went through to round 5.
SCOTTISH CUP 5TH ROUND Replay
Arthurlie United 1 v 2 Eastvale
The Vale travelled to Barrhead in Glasgow determined to put behind them the poor display in the first game. As in the previous week the game was dictated by weather conditions, a strong wind blowing down the pitch. playing agaist the wind Eastvale found themselves a goal down inside 10 minutes a wind assited free-kick was delected into the net off an Eastvale head. The battle for midfield was being won by Douglas, Sellars and Gay, but it was the front two of Allan and Beaumont who were causing problems. Beaumont saw a freekick held an thye second attempt. The home side were content to try and score from corners, but the Vale defence was resolute and showed no sign of cracking under pressure, infact despite the ball being in the Vale half most of the first half Kinnear did not need to produce a save.Thomson almost equilised on the stroke of half time but a last ditch tackle stopped the net bound shot.
Backed by a large travelling support, Eastvale hemmed in the home team. Kennedy 's long range effort went just wide. Sellars thought he had scored only to be denied by a brilliant save. Beamont saw a freekick saved at the second attempt. Aurthurlie were content to hit on the break and forced Kinnear into a brave save. Authurlie's goal led a charmed life as Eastvale pushed for the equiliser, it finally came 15 minutes from time, Beaumonts flighted coner bulleted home by Martin.
Aurthurlie tried o slow the game down and take into extra time, the Eastvale support wrer uring the team forward, Kennnedy thought he had scored again denied by a brilliant save, with 5 minutes left the onslaught paid off, Beaumont corner inch perfect for lamont to head home, the home side rallied and wasted a good chance right on the whistle. But Eastvale's efforts were rewarded with a sixth round tie.
The match referre for both games was Vicky Manzie from Tayport and should be complimented on her handling of both games. Both teams and supporters were of this opinion.
Fosters Fife Cup 3rd Round
Eastvale 1 v 0 Norton House
The match was played at the second time of asking and started at a frantic pace, which never relenquised for the whole 90 minutes. Both teams in the early stages were intent on winning midfield and this was to set the pattern for the whole game. Both teams showed signs of the enforced lay off as the game was scrappy. Eastvale manufactured the best move, when Thomson and Roberts combined down the right from the resultant corner, Martin bulleted a header goalward only to see it drift wide. Then Beaumont sent Martin in on goal but he was denied by a Brave save from Seath. Norton surged down the right and with a man over should have taken advantage but poor control and the chance was gone. Thomson the went down the right , beaumont squared to roberts but his shot went wide with Seath beaten, seath the pulled of to good saves as Eastvale dominated the latter stages of the half, before Martin slammed the ball home from inside the box to send Eastvale in at half time with the lead.
Norton pressed early in the half to draw level but couldn't find the touch. Eastvale regained their momentum and Allan tried his luck from distance and Roberts forced Seath to make several fine stops, undeterred Allan should great skill in the box and his lob went agonisingly wide, Norton were then reduced to 10 men, but this saw them have their best spell of the half and only a top class save from kinnear denied a certain goal, Eastvale were breaking well and both Murphy, Beaumont and allan went close as Seath kept Norton in the game, But Eastvale were never likely to let a chance to reach the quarter finals slip as they progressed into the next round.
Scottish Brewars Cup 1st Round
Eastvale 2 v 1 Strathmiglo Utd
This game was finally played at third time of asking, both teams fielded
changed teams. Eastvale showed no signs of the enforced lay off as they
pushed forward from the start, Allan and Beaumont combined his shot flew
just over, Beaumnt produced a teasing corner which Lamont headed goalward
but the keeper saved, Kennedy the produced a great ball from a corner that
saw theball go in off the post to send Eastvale in front.Murrie Then saw a
right foot effort saved but produced a sweet effort minutes later from the
edge of the box to increase the lead. Thomson saw a flashing header go wide,
Allan showed great skill to beat two defenders and his showed beat the
keeper but went wrong side of the post. eastvale pushed for the third goal
an were almost caught out as Kinnear produced a superb one handed save to
keep Strathmiglo out.
Scottish 6th Round
Drumchapel United 2-0 Eastvale
Two goals in a 10-minute second half spell killed Eastvale's hopes of Scottish Cup progress and ended local interest in the competition for another season.They traveled to Duntocher to face Drumchapel for a place in the last 16, played on a bright but cold day on a tight pitch.Eastvale started at a high tempo and forced three corners which were scrambled clear. This set the tone for the half, as Drumchapel were happy to hit on the break.
Martin wes played through but the keeper made a brave save at his feet. The same player then flashed a header over as Eastvale had the upper hand in midfield.
Beaumont sent a good ball across the face but there was no final touch as the half ended level.In the second period, drumchapel looked a different side as they forced Eastvale back, and this transformation saw them score twice in ten minutes. The first was from a corner, half cleared, with the resultant shot deflected into the roof of the net, while the second was a superb strike into the top corner.Drumchapel went to kill the game off but Kinnear and Kennedy kept Eastvale in it.They tried to respond but didn't get the break of the ball as drumchapel defended in depth.
Eastvale forced men forward but all efforts went wide and there cup run ended, in front of a large following of fans who's presence was appreciated by all at the club.
Glendale Plastics league
Lomond Victoria 1 v 4 Eastvale
back on the league trail eastvale started the game well, wil Douglas firing
over and thomson forcing a save. It was Lomond who procuded a decisive piece
of play that saw Kinnear made a brilliant double save that culminated in him
being injured, Murphy took over in goal and produced a great save. Both
teams were reduced to ten men as the half finished. Eastvale regrouped and
produced a great move that saw them win a corner, Lamont headed the ball
goalward and Allan volleyed home. Eastvale took control and a great ball in
saw the defender knock the ball in for number two. A similiar move from
another cornersaw Thomson head home, with 15 minutes left Lomond pulled a
goal back, but Sellars scored a great goal following slack play to give Vale
the three points.
Fosters Fife Cup: Quarter Final
Eastvale 2 v 0 Kirkland
This eagerly awaited cup tie was played in pefect conditions in front of a
large crowd.Kirkland tok the game to Eastvale right from the kick off and
forced three early corners which produced good efforts that just failed to
hit the target, Kiner was forced into making two good saves as Kirkland
tried find the opening. Eastvale settled and a corner from Sellars was
headed out to Douglas who responded by placing the ball in the top corner
for the opening goal, Kirklands keeper was forced to make wo point blank
saves as Eastvale found the rythem, but the best save was yet to come as
kennedy hit a great shot from the edge of the box which saw the keeper at
full stretch. Kirkland rallied and Kinnear made a point blank save on the
stroke of half time.Eastvale opened the second hale in positive fashion,
Thomson was causing problems down the flanks and a sweeping move culminating
in Thomson sending Douglas in on goal to score his second, Kirkland were
pressed back for a long spell as Eastvale looked to kill the tie, but it was
Kirkland who came back and only good defending by Kennedy denied Kirkland a
life line, as the game came to an end.
